The historical Integrated Monitoring of Environmental Flows (IMEF) collection on SEED has been further expanded, with additional reports and related research from the Barwon-Darling and Murray, Gwydir and Border Rivers added to the growing body of IMEF information available as Open Data.

IMEF investigated ecological responses to environmental flows in regulated rivers across NSW. The program generated an important body of scientific research and monitoring information that contributes to our understanding of river systems and environmental flow management.

This latest release brings together historical IMEF reports spanning multiple years and catchments, together with programs and research that incorporated or built upon IMEF work during its later years and after the main program wound down around 2012.

What’s been added

The latest release includes:

  • IMEF Reports – Barwon-Darling and Murray, with reports from 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2011
  • IMEF Reports – Gwydir, with reports from 2003 through to 2012
  • IMEF Reports – Border Rivers, with reports from 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2012
  • Programs and Research incorporating IMEF – Barwon-Darling and Murray
  • Programs and Research incorporating IMEF – Gwydir
  • Programs and Research incorporating IMEF – Border Rivers

These additions complement IMEF material already available for other NSW catchments, progressively bringing together a broader historical record of the program and the research that followed from it.

Making this material available through SEED helps preserve valuable scientific knowledge, improve its discoverability and support its continued use by researchers, scientists, river managers, government, industry and the broader community.

Historical research can continue to provide value well beyond the project or program that originally created it. Improved access allows contemporary users to discover earlier investigations, understand how knowledge has developed over time and build upon previous work.

Overview

The IMEF program generated multiple reports on program design, methodologies, and outcomes for environmental flow monitoring across NSW. Data was collected until 2012 in a range of aquatic systems affected by flow from regulated rivers. NB: This is a landing page.
