We're excited to announce a new addition to the SEED Open Data Portal – the Hydrologic Modelling for Connectivity Expert Panel 2024 dataset. This dataset includes crucial time series hydrologic modelling directed by the Connectivity Expert Panel to inform the proposed protection of base flow and resumption of flow targets.

The modelling data was instrumental in shaping the recommendations outlined in the Connectivity Expert Panel Final Report July 2024. The Connectivity Expert Panel was convened by the Minister for Water to provide advice on the adequacy and potential improvements to rules in the NSW Northern Basin water sharing plans that might materially impact on hydrological connectivity.

? Why This Matters:

  • Informed Decision-Making: The dataset helps understand the impact of various flow targets and scenarios on water management strategies.
  • Enhanced Connectivity: Supports the assessment of measures to improve hydrological connectivity in the northern NSW Murray Darling Basin.
  • Long-Term Planning: Provides historical data and scenarios that are crucial for planning and implementing effective water management rules.

The Connectivity Expert Panel was convened by the Minister for Water to provide advice on the adequacy and potential improvements to rules in the NSW Northern Basin water sharing plans that might materially impact on hydrological connectivity. The Panel was asked to consider the adequacy of current and proposed targets and triggers for restricting supplementary and floodplain harvesting, as well as A, B and C class licences in the Barwon-Darling. ----------------------------------- Note: If you would like to ask a question, make any suggestions, or tell us how you are using this dataset, please visit the [NSW Water Hub which has an online forum](https://water-hub.seed.nsw.gov.au/thread/search) you can join.
