We’re pleased to announce the release of two new open vegetation datasets, developed as part of the Environmental Outcomes Monitoring and Research Program. These datasets capture field survey observations from:

📊 Each dataset includes:

  • 📂Two spreadsheets:
    • One focused on vegetation floristics (species composition, growth form, functional group, etc.)
    • One focused on tree stand condition (canopy structure, dead limbs, hollows, DBH, etc.)
  • 📑 A metadata statement outlining content, format, and methods used.

This data was collected as part of the DCCEEW Conservation Programs, Heritage and Regulations Group (CPHR) and the DCCEEW Biodiversity Conservation Science Group's - long running Environmental Water monitoring program and the DCCEEW Water Group's Environmental Outcomes Monitoring and Research program  https://water.dpie.nsw.gov.au/our-work/science-data-and-modelling/surface-water/environmental-outcomes-monitoring-and-research-program

Overview

The water-dependent vegetation dataset comprises observations obtained from various regions within New South Wales (NSW), Australia. This dataset is structured as a point-based inventory, providing detailed information on the condition of water-dependent vegetation communities. The dataset encompasses two main components: 1. Vegetation Community Condition: This component focuses on assessing the health, composition, and structure of water-dependent vegetation communities. It includes information on species composition and cover. 2. Tree Stand Condition: This component involves eval...
2. Tree Stand Condition: This component involves evaluating the condition of individual trees within water-dependent vegetation stands. It includes data on tree health, canopy structure, crown density, and tree size distribution. Each record in the water-dependent vegetation dataset provides spatially explicit information, including the geographic coordinates of observation points and the survey methodology employed.
