We are excited to release the RAW Water Quality Data collected under the State Water Quality Assessment and Monitoring Project (SWAMP)! This dataset provides crucial insights into the ambient water quality conditions of rivers across New South Wales.

πŸ“Œ What’s in the Dataset?
The RAW Water Quality Data includes monthly data from 2016 to 2021, covering the following key water quality indicators at selected sites across NSW:

  • Electrical conductivity
  • Temperature
  • Turbidity
  • Total suspended solids
  • pH
  • Dissolved oxygen
  • Phosphorus and nitrogen

The data collected through SWAMP is used to:

  • Assess ambient river water quality across selected sites in NSW.
  • Provide measures of compliance with state and national guidelines and standards.
  • Enable reporting and trend analysis through frameworks like the River Condition Index, Matter 12 Reports, Basin Technical Reports, and Water Quality Index.

πŸ’‘ Why It Matters
This data plays a vital role in understanding and managing river water quality across New South Wales. It supports decision-making in water resource management, ecological research, and environmental conservation. By capturing typical ambient surface water quality conditions, it helps monitor changes due to broad-scale resource management and climate factors.

RAW Water Quality Data

Overview

The RAW Water Quality Data is collected under The State Water Quality Assessment and Monitoring Project (SWAMP). The State Water Quality Assessment and Monitoring Project (SWAMP) is a state wide project responsible for collecting, analysing and reporting the ambient water quality condition of rivers in NSW. SWAMP collects water quality data monthly to: - assess ambient river water quality in terms of electrical conductivity, temperature, turbidity, total suspended solids, pH, dissolved oxygen, phosphorus and nitrogen at selected sites across NSW - provide high quality, long term, ...

The State Water Quality Assessment and Monitoring Project (SWAMP) is a state wide project responsible for collecting, analysing and reporting the ambient water quality condition of rivers in NSW. SWAMP collects water quality data monthly to: - assess ambient river water quality in terms of electrical conductivity, temperature, turbidity, total suspended solids, pH, dissolved oxygen, phosphorus and nitrogen at selected sites across NSW - provide high quality, long term, statistically robust data to enable condition and trend reporting - provide data to enable measures of compliance with state and national guidelines and standards, and - provide a framework of river water quality monitoring across NSW upon which other programs can build. This data is then used for: - Basin Technical Reports - Matter 12 Reports - River Condition Index - Water Quality Index ----------------------------------- Note: If you would like to ask a question, make any suggestions, or tell us how you are using this dataset, please visit the [NSW Water Hub which has an online forum](https://water-hub.seed.nsw.gov.au/thread/search) you can join.
